My studio runs on the normal calendar year, January through December. July and August there are no regular lessons and no group lessons. Families need to schedule a minimum of two private lessons for the months of July and August. This is to keep children motivated and practicing over the summer. That leaves time for family vacation, summer institutes and camps. Lessons for July and August are an additional fee. July and August schedule is available in June for families to choose their dates and times for these extra lessons. I offer a summer music mini camp in August to help motivate, encourage and unite the studio students.
Refer to the yearly calendar for all classes and events dates. Though I try to keep all dates locked in however, there are times when the facilities, weather etc. that are beyond my control causes a change in the scheduling. I will send emails notifying of these changes if they occur.
There are 30 private classes a year. (3 per month for 10 months) Lessons are in half hour increments. Please contact me to set up a lesson day and time for your child.
There are 10 group classes a year. (1 per month for 10 months)
Cumberland County location:
* 5:15-6:00 Scroll Class (Beginners)
* 6:00-6:45 Bridge Class (Intermediate)
* 6:45-7:30 Fine Tuners (Advanced)
Adams County location:
* 5:15-6:00 Sound Post (Mixture of levels)
Each student is assigned to a specific class according to their playing ability.
Graduations from book levels are done once a year during group classes.
Each student will receive a binder for homework sheets and papers. Students will be responsible to bring to class their binder and books. Parents are responsible for providing their child's instrument, books and any accessories needed.
I will ONLY make up 2 classes per year. If you miss more than that you will forfeit the lesson time and are still responsible for the lesson fee. You may switch with another family who is willing to take your time slot that week if you need to make a change. When you switch time slots with another family that family needs to agree to take your time slot and you must call, email, or text me of this change. If no one is able to switch, you can use one of your 2 make-ups. The make up lessons will be made up on a designated day in June and December. Conflicts that arise due to athletics, activities, social events, family trips are not excused. The fee is the same for each of the 10 months of payment whether you take all your classes or not. I will not make up “make up” lessons that have been missed. I will make up any lessons that I need to cancel for any reasons.
I will be teaching whether it snows or not. If the snow causes you to miss a lesson you will need to use one of your two make up lessons if you are not able to get to your lesson. However, if the governor closes the roads or it is a major ice or snowfall, I will make up those lessons. The latter will be at my discretion whether it is major enough to be made up. I will not be making up lessons when all students are able to come and one student doesn’t. In these cases you will need to use one of your two make up times. If it is a group day and group needs canceled, I will need to talk to the church where we hold group classes and arrange another day with them for the group make-up classes if they let me.
There are two group locations.
Cumberland County group classes meet at Bible Baptist Church 201 W. Main St. Shiremanstown PA 17011. No food or drinks in the building. You may park in the upper parking lot.
Adams County group classes meet in my York Springs home studio.
Reminder for lessons held in my home: You may park along the side of my home on the street and go in the basement door in the back of my home.
SOLO PERFORMANCES, RECITALS AND PLAY-IN’S :
Twice a year a mandatory studio recital will take place for students where family and friends can come watch their loved one perform. This will consist of solo and group performances. Optional monthly performances are also offered to the students to perform in the community. Places we have played are nursing homes, malls, government events, country clubs, and the Carlisle Barracks. We have participated in benefit concerts, Christmas shows and children's hospitals to name a few.
Payments will be due the 1st week of the month. The 10 months that you will be paying for will be September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May, and June. No payments will be made July and August except the extra less fees or if your child wants to participate in mini camp. A late fee of $5.00 will be added for payments received after the first week of the month. If monthly tuition has not been received by the third week, lessons will be on hold until tuition is paid with late fee and no make-up classes will be given. Teaching is my full time livelihood.
Monthly fee includes: private lessons, group classes, monthly playing opportunities, studio recitals, quarterly news letter, studio directory and other studio activities. Contact me for lesson fees.
